Covent Garden will bring back its “Theatre of Christmas” programme on November 12, 2026, with a large-scale lighting display and a new collection of trees inspired by West End productions. Property owner Shaftesbury Capital says more than 300,000 LED lights will illuminate the neighbourhood, while the Market Building will feature 40 oversized bells, 12 giant baubles and eight spinning mirror balls.
The 50-foot Norwegian spruce on the West Piazza is planned to carry more than 30,000 LED lights and 200 baubles. A new “Forest of Theatre” installation will add a series of nine-foot Christmas trees designed around shows including MAMMA MIA!, Moulin Rouge! The Musical, SIX and My Neighbour Totoro.

The seasonal programme will open with the annual lights switch-on and continue through November and December. The release also says Covent Garden’s hourly snow flurries will return to the West Piazza from December 4. The lighting, tree and theatre-themed elements make the district’s streets and historic Market Building the focus of the installation.
