Market and performances lead up to the switch-on
The event is scheduled for 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. around Vicarage Field and Hailsham High Street, with the lights due to switch on at 6 p.m. The council’s programme includes live performances, school carols, a Christmas market and family activities. Local and regional traders are expected to offer handmade gifts, crafts, festive decorations, flowers and homeware.
The council says Hailsham High Street is expected to close to traffic from about 11 a.m. until 9 p.m. Organizers describe the event as the start of the town’s Christmas celebrations and an opportunity to bring shoppers to independent businesses and market stalls.
