Macy’s Expands Holiday Square as Herald Square Unveils Its 2026 Christmas Displays

Macy’s has announced a broad holiday program for its Herald Square flagship in New York, pairing seasonal displays with an expanded retail and workshop space. The company says Holiday Square will return on October 31 for its third year, occupying more than 50,000 square feet and bringing together over 35 vendors, including local makers and specialty food sellers.

The 2026 edition will add wreath-making and floral workshops alongside gift wrapping and other seasonal activities. Macy’s also plans a fully reimagined Santaland in November, built around a North Star Express journey through festive scenes before a visit with Santa. Free reservations are scheduled to become available from November 20, released seven days ahead of each visit date.

The flagship’s holiday windows will tell a story featuring the Blue Hippopotamus, a character first seen in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in 1931. The display is scheduled to debut November 19 and remain on view through January 4, 2027. Together with seasonal décor and the renewed Santaland experience, the windows position the retailer’s historic Manhattan store as a destination for the 2026 holiday season.

Dates and experiences are based on Macy’s announcement and may be subject to updates from the retailer.
